Full of ideas and with an impressive technique, jazz bassist Cecil McBee created a showpiece of early modern improvised music with “Mutima.” Accompanied by many strong musicians such as singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, the recording from 1974 is convincing across the board and marked McBee’s start into a great career.
